Jeanne Tarrant

A former member of the United States Army Band, Jeanne Tarrant was an active member of both the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and the Florida Grand Opera Orchestra since 1985. She was also Principal Flute of the Miami Chamber Orchestra, and is a frequent collaborator and soloist with many of South Florida's finest Chamber musicians.

In 1993 Ms. Tarrant was a winner of the National Flute Association Performers competition, and as a result was selected as soloist for the National Convention in Boston, MA. Her performance earned her a repeat invitation to the National Convention in Orlando, FL in 1997. Ms. Tarrant has studied with a number of distinguished music teachers, including Marcel Moyse, Samuel Baron, Geoffrey Gilbert, Walfrid Kujala and Marzio Conti. She graduated Summa cum Laude from the University of Memphis, where she earned a Masters of Music Degree. While completing her graduate work she was the winner of the university's Concerto Competition, and also played with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her regular duties with the Florida Philharmonic, Florida Grand Opera, and Miami Chamber Orchestra.

Ms. Tarrant organized benefit concerts to provide financial assistance to children in distress. One of her most recent projects benefited the Save the Children foundation, with a portion of the proceeds from her concerts earmarked for that organization's Kosovo fund.
